PROTECTING & DISPLAYING
COLLECTIONS AND COLLECTIBLES

As many of you know, protecting, while displaying collections and collectibles is a must  task. You want to display the elegance, beauty, and importance of your finds, but they need protection at the same time.

Curio cabinets and shelves do serve a good and aesthetic purpose for your collections and collectibles, especially if part of your home decor. Frames are an excellent alternative.

Aside from curio cabinets or shelves that allow the collector to have the ability to touch the items, enclosing them in special framing permits one to view the beauty and elegance at an eye-level view, strategically placed.

If you have not as yet found a method to protect your collection or collectibles you want to display, you should do it as soon as possible for a myriad of reasons:  value-retention, preserving the condition, insurance, home/apartment atmosphere (whether it is humid or dry/hot or cold), too bright lighting, activity around the location of the object(s), security, and more...in other words, displaying your collection or collectibles for your enjoyment is only part of the experience, piece of mind is the other.

Antique and vintage clothing is also frame worthy. Enclosing antique or vintage clothing in a frame is an excellent method of display with the added benefit of protection.  Display forms are wonderfully visible and appealing, but dust will collect on the garment, and the room's atmospheric conditions plus activity, may very well damage the garment instead.

Special lighting will enhance the whole look of any display whether a shelf,  curio cabinet, or frame.

Below are some examples of framed small collectibles created by Anne Hessel. The Mexican artifacts in the red box frame is a work-in-progress.
The football jersey and doll-size kimono are excellent examples for framed garment collectibles; and the framed footprints with an original frog
watercolor showcases special collectible memorable events.
